Louie Ledoux came to Dusty Paws rescue from a small shelter in Southern California. Not much is known of his history. He was found at the end of a chain - the other end was lodged behind a car wheel - and he was unclaimed after a month in the shelter. It is possible he ran away from an unsatisfactory home. He is capable of jumping a less than 6 foot fence. Louie.is about 4 years old and weighs 63 lbs. When he came to us his coat was dry and dirty and harbored ticks. As you can see, he cleaned up very nicely and is a very handsome dog.
We are seeking a secure, dog-savvy, permanent home for Louie. We are unsure of his breed, but the shelter called him a Jindo/German Shepherd mix and we are going with that for now. Those who admire the Jindo breed will not be surprised that Louie is not immediately interactive with humans. Although he seems to like people, he can appear standoffish at first He is, however, very patient and calm with handling whether for grooming, bathing or medical attention.
Louie seems comfortable with other dogs and behaves appropriately toward them, although his size and confidence may intimidate a less than confident male dog. This was the case in his first foster home. The male foster dog felt defensive. The female foster on the other hand loved him at first sight and immediately tried to entice him to play.
We hope that Jindo fans will stop by our adoption events and give us their opinions of Louie Ledoux. We hope even more fervently that one of you will see in him the beautiful dog fellow you would like to share your home and life with.
