MEET BARLEY!! **Please Note: This is a courtesy post for another rescue; different adoption fees/policy apply.

Hello. My name is Barley. It's nice to meet you.

The most important thing you need to know about me is that I am a lover. I love cuddling, giving kisses, sitting in your lap, and sleeping next to you in bed. I also love playing, running, and hiking. I have a lot of energy and like getting a lot of exercise. If I could go for a hike every day and then run around in a yard, I would be the happiest dog in the world.

Exercise also is good for burning off some anxiety. I don't really like loud noises, crowds, or cars because they make me nervous. I prefer to be in enclosed spaces where I know I'm safe to roam around and play without running into strangers. Even though I don't like being around cars, I don't mind riding in them, especially if I can sit in your lap. I love any time I can be in your lap. I like looking out the window and watching the world fly by.

I do my best to be a good dog and companion. I sometimes get nervous, but I am much better when I have some training and exercise. I am crate trained and don't mind hanging out in my own space, but I don't really like going in there myself. Most importantly, I am willing to learn and would love for you to teach me.

My ideal forever home is with someone who can give me undivided attention. The home has a fenced-in backyard and is somewhere quiet and calm. It's maybe next to a mountain or running trail where we can run around every day.

About Underdog Rescue of Arizona

About Our Rescue Group...

Underdog Rescue of Az is an all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescuing and re-homing of abandoned and/or abused dogs.

We are a foster-based rescue, and do not maintain a physical base of operations. All of our animals are placed with loving, caring safe foster families until they are adopted. We are also an "All Breed" rescue, and do not discriminate based on breed, age, size, etc.

Underdog's mission also includes educating the public on the issue of animal welfare. We strive to promote shelter reform, spay and neuter education and emergency rescue information & assistance.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We attend multiple adoption events throughout the valley during Spring and Fall.
If you are interested in a specific pet, please complete our adoption application found on our website and we can then coordinate a meet and greet.

Our Adoption Process...

All potential adopters will be required to complete our Adoption Application, read and sign our Adopting Policies and Procedures, and participate in a home visit by one of our adoption representatives. Our Adoption Application is located on our website:

We also have a mandatory two-week Foster With Intent to Adopt trial period for all animals in order to be certain the pet is a good fit for your family.

Our standard adoption fee for dogs is $200; puppies are $250.

Non-standard fees do sometimes apply. Puppies younger than six months may have a higher fee. Designer dogs, purebreds, and other toy type breeds may also have higher adoption fees than the standard $200.

We do, however, have discounted fees for dogs that are seniors, a pair of dogs adopted together, or cats. If you are a veteran or an active duty service member, please ask about our partnership with Pets For Patriots.

All Underdog pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption.

We are a 501c3 non profit, your donations save lives and are 100% tax deductible.
