Chance and Bender are a bonded pair of middle aged pitties who grew up in a family with children. Sadly their family had to move right before the 4th of July and had nowhere for Chance and Bender to go so they brought them into a local shelter. Little did they know that shelters are overly crowded this time of year due to the fireworks and festivities and the boys we're given only a few days to find a new home or be euthanized. On the day they were scheduled to be euthanized due to lack of space we rescued them and have been getting to know them. What we found out is that these 2 boys are loving and loyal companions to one another and to any human they meet.

Chance and bender are house trained, they are up to date on vaccines and microchipped. They are great with kids, well behaved on leash, and would like nothing more than to be your cuddle buddies! They would do best in a home with a yard to explore or someone willing to take them for walks. We know that 2 pitties sounds like a lot but in our experience a bonded pair is always easier to transition into a new home because they have each other!

About Lionel's Legacy

About Our Rescue Group...

Lionel's Legacy is a San Diego based senior dog rescue and elementary humane education program. We provide a last chance for senior dogs entering the shelter systems in both San Diego and Los Angeles. We solely rely on fosters to care for our seniors temporarily while looking for their furever home or as permanent hospice fosters when the need arises.

We also believe in early education as a means of preventing pet overpopulation. As a second grade teacher at Central elementary in San Diego, I see first hand the difference educating our brilliant young minds can make.

Lionel's Legacy- Saving ONE senior dog at a time and educating MANY young minds to leave a legacy of compassion and advocacy!

Our Adoption Process...

Our initial adoption process begins with an application of interest, a phone interview, an interact with all family members including pets, and a home check. Among completion and review of those areas then an adoption will be finalized with an adoption agreement, adoption fee, and followed up with a check-in within 2 weeks of bringing the new pet home.
