Nina's Story...

Nina

Shy, but SO worth the effort.

I'm a little skittish, but once I get to know you I'm super sweet and snuggly, and my toothy smile will win your heart.

BREED: Great Dane/American Bulldog
COLOR: White w/ black markings
GENDER: Spayed Female
BIRTHDATE: July 2014
WEIGHT: 63 pounds

GENERAL SOCIALIZATION:

My siblings and I were dropped off at a crowded shelter in California, and then transferred to Colorado. We were sick and scared when we arrived. My mom thinks being put through all that stress made me as skittish as I am, but I do recover quickly. I'm really good at nose-work exercises, and I ride really well in the car. I love to just snuggle and watch TV, but I'm ready and eager to train or play whenever the opportunity arises.

DO YOU LIKE OTHER DOGS?

I loved the other dogs in my house, but my resource guarding and anxiety have made it hard for us to get along now. The nice people at ABRT are helping me through all that.

DO YOU LIKE CHILDREN?

I love love LOVE the baby in my current home, but have not been introduced to any other children.

FAVORITE TOY:

I like hard rubber balls I can toss around, especially those that squeak, and I love those toys I need to work at to get all the yummy treats out.

FOREVER HOME:

I would love to live in a quiet home, where I can hang out and not be overwhelmed by too many visitors. I would do best if I was the only dog. I will need to be crated if left home alone for a bit since I do get restless when no-one else is around. But I love my crate so that's OK with me! And I will greet you with kisses and my toothy smile when I do see you again.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nina, a Colorado Springs Great Dane/American Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane/American Bulldog for sale in Colorado Springs, or seeking a Great Dane/American Bulldog dog from a breeder in Colorado Springs.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Colorado Springs already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Colorado Springs breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane/American Bulldog breeders who help with Great Dane/American Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Colorado Springs paves the way for another one to be saved.
