My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Raker is a fun-loving, playful friend. He has a mix of all of the best qualities you could ever want in a companion. He is very loyal and loves to be near his humans. He wants to please in any way you want him to. If you want him to be a lap dog, he would love that and will sit in your lap for hours if you let him! If you want him to lay by your side, he will curl up right next to you. Do you want him to lay on your feet to keep them warm? He is happy to oblige. Do you want to play fetch or throw a ball? He would be so excited to do that with you - and he will impress you with his fetching and returning skills! How about frisbee? He will amaze you with how high he can jump. He is even accommodating when it comes to quiet time. Give Raker a bone or a chew toy and he is content to lay down and occupy himself. Raker is easy to train because he is so smart, very treat driven and wants so badly to please. He is house trained, kennel trained and knows how to use a doggie door. Because he loves to run & play chasing balls, he will need a home preferably with a fenced yard to keep him safe and give him plenty of time outdoors with his favorite activity. Apartment life would not suit him well. He would LOVE a farm or acreage where he would be able to have lots of activities outdoors to keep him busy. He is very good with dogs who are his approximate size or smaller. Larger dogs tend to overwhelm him & make him a bit nervous. Raker came to Dolly’s Legacy from a family who was growing, and sadly, didn’t feel they had time for or wanted a dog anymore. After all of the training and learning that Raker so obviously accomplished to please his past family, he continued to look out the window at his foster home confused as to why his family wasn’t coming back for him. Through the love of Dolly’s Legacy Animal Recuse, Raker’s confidence and security has been restored, and he is ready to find his TRUE forever family who will appreciate his beauty, unconditional love and his willingness to please. And you must be the proud owner of a tennis ball, or a collection of tennis balls (his personal request!). Raker is a little shy at first and would do best with a family without toddlers or a noisy/active home, but warms up quickly because he wants to be loved. Get a closer look at him starring in his very own Youtube video: https://youtu.be/23Xf3jCIWmc

Raker is 1-1/2 yr old, weighs 30 lbs and appears to be an Australian Shepherd/Sheltie/Cattle Dog mix (our best guess on breeds). Raker is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative & dewormed. Adoption fee is $275. The FIRST step is to have you complete our online adoption application.
