My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello world! Dalton’s the name and Malamute is my fame. I came to Moonsong from a good home full of kids and other dogs but I didn’t really get along with one of the dogs there and they were afraid one of us might get hurt so they found my foster mom who they knew would find me a safe loving home of my own. Like I said, I have lived with kids, big and small, and I love them all but it would be wise to keep an eye on me when I am around the smaller ones since I am so big. I sometimes don’t know my own size. Right now I am long and lanky, weighing in at a whopping 101 pounds. Since I am still a ‘puppy’, I may grow a little more and become the beautiful but large Malamute I was always meant to be.

To tell you more about me, I certainly do love my people! There hasn’t been one who I have met that I didn’t like. If you start petting me, be prepared for me to become your best friend. I love my toys and long walks with my foster dad. I have discovered that there are bunnies in the country that need to know that Dalton is around and to beware! I do have a really strong prey drive and will go after bunnies, cats and chickens so I will need a home with none of these. Kids are great especially the bigger ones. Walks are ‘da bomb’ and the more of them I get, the happier I am. My foster mom got me a harness for my walks and now I am learning not to pull. I really don’t pull badly but it is helping me learn unless I see one of those pesky wabbits and need to go chase it. I am house trained but really do not like being crated at night. I would much prefer sleeping with my peeps but sometimes that’s not possible so I stay in my own room at night. I do have a touch of separation anxiety but don’t howl or bark too long when alone and I am getting much better about it already. I dig but don’t jump fences but just to make sure, a secure 6’ fence would be best. With slow introductions, I think I would do well with a female playmate. I have sniffed my foster mom’s male that lives across the fence from me during the day and so far he is ok but not sure I would want to be around him all day long. A female is another subject as I like the girls!

I asked my foster mom to say a few words about me and this is what she had to say: "Dalton has been rehomed twice in his short life due to no fault of his own. He is a loving, playful young Mal that would do best in an active home where he will get the exercise he needs. He walks pretty well on a leash using an ‘Easy Walk’ harness and is house trained. He does love his people and prefers to be around them as much as possible. His separation anxiety is very moderate but he is very good about making you feel guilty for leaving him outside for any amount of time! He is neutered and current on all shots and heartworm testing. Dalton is such a  joy to have around.  If you are looking for a young Mal, take a close look at Dalton. He may be just what you are wanting. I am sure after about 5 minutes, he will be wanting to go home with you, too."
