Maya is a darling mastiff boxer mix girl. She is an amazing girl with a heart of gold. She came from a really bad situation and just needs someone to step in and give her a great forever home. She is a stunning fawn girl with natural ears and tail. She is a great girl who just needs a good home that will give her a little time to warm up as she can be a bit shy at first. She is an amazing girl. She is a huge version of a boxer with a sweet as pie personality. She has come so far since we first took her in and we adore her. She was just a shell of a dog, now she is a dog who has come far out of her shell. She is a silly, happy go lucky gal who marches to the beat of her own drum.

Maya came to us from her past family. They had purchased her off a local free site from a family that abused her. They had kept her locked in a back yard with another dog who beat her up. They likely physically beat her as she was terrified of them and would cower and run. When the family that we took her from got her she was terrified and was worrying the other dog. She did not know how to be a normal pet. So since their other dog was much older they were worried they were not a good fit for her. We are happy we were able to help she has come a long way and deserves a great home.

Maya is a darling girl who loves attention, loves to go for walks, and just needs a home that will show her that its ok to be a dog. She loves to play, have a good time and has spent a lot of time at doggy play days to learn how to be a well rounded dog. She is doing amazing. She would love to be in a home with a non bully personality dog. She loves to have a good time. She does well with kids but does better with kids over 6 or 7. She can be a bit of a bull in a china shop personality. She is scared of men more then women but doing well as we have spent a lot of time with men giving with he treats and spending lots of time with her. We think that more of her is just needing exposure to them. She is an amazing girl who we adore and we know that she will make a perfect pet for the right home. She will chase kitties and needs a home that can work with her on that, she has done great in her foster home, but we want to make sure that the new family works on it, or doesnt have kitties.

Maya is a doll. She is up to date, dewormed, flea treated, and spayed. She is house broken, crate trained, and does ok on leash. She does need a tall fence as she can hop over a 4 ft fence or a home that will not leave her outside unattended. She does well with other dogs, but has been known to chase cats in the past. She has done well in her foster home with them, but they had to be very firm from the start and still would not leave her loose with them alone. She has learned to do much better with them but there will be an adjustment period with a new cat in a new home. She is a happy healthy girl. She is a happy healthy girl who just needs a good home, soft bed, and someone to play fetch with.  She is a sweet girl who loves cuddles, toys, and balls. She is a great girl for the right home.

We spend a lot of time trying to get to know the dogs in our program as best as we can. This means that we have spent time introducing them to dogs, cats, kids, animals, people and as many things as we can. We try to do as much as we can to evaluate them, both with in our group and if the dogs come from other rescues or shelters their evaluations as well. However dogs are individuals and will react to different situations differently. This means that we do not know how a dog will react in every situation. We give out our best guess based off information provided but the handler of a dog and the way they are introduced to a situation makes a huge impact. So if you have any questions of how to introduce a dog to your home, please let us know and we will provide as much info as we can from pamphlets to helping find a trainer in your area.

Our rescue aims to help dogs who are passed by and over looked by most rescues and people. We help the dogs who are in need of medical care, vetting, training and breeds that most will not help with. In most shelters if you are large dog, a big dog, or a male dog; from the moment you walk in you are on barrowed time. If you have docked ears or are a guardian breed your time was over before you walked in the doors. We aim to save these dogs and give them a second chance. Please help us save more lives by helping with our medical bills as they grow. This year has already been hard and we have many medical dogs in need.

If you would like to adopt this pet please send us an email. Applications will be sent to you via email. We do our best to get back to emails in 24 hrs. Our goal is to find the right fit for every home, not just any home!

About Rising Phoenix Mastiff Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a no kill non profit mastiff rescue. We work with all breeds of mastiffs including rare breeds and power breeds of mastiffs. Such as Presa, Fila, Corso, Tosa, Dogo, Ect. We are founded by a small group of dedicated people who have a passion for large breed dogs. We often take in animals who are not mastiffs if there is a need. We work with both purebred dogs and mix breeds. We also work with dogs who need further training since many dogs that come in are simply in need of medical care and training. We also work on educating the public to these breeds and helping owners train and help with the dogs they have so that not all are put into rescue. Sometimes the best home is the one they are already in. We spend alot of time on education. We were founded because there was a lack of help for many of the misunderstood mastiff breeds. Many were dieing in shelters and refused by rescues becuase they did not understand the breed. We felt the need so we offered to help.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All our adoptions are set up by appointment only. Our dogs are kept in foster homes. Not in a rescue center. This is so we can get to know everyone better. Because of this we can only do adoptions by appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

We require all adopters to fill out an adoption application for the pet they are inquiring about. This gives us basic info if the dog they are interested in even fits their lifestyle. If that is passed we do a home check, and background check as best as we can in the area. We also contact their vets for any info on their current or past animals. If things go well from there we do require them to come meet and greet the animal they are adopting. In some cases its easier for us to bring the animal to them, and that can be done as well to see how everyone gets along. If that goes well we have an adoption contract that must be signed. We require different things for every animal depending on their exact needs. Some cant be around kids, cats, other dogs ect. Some can. But everyone is required to have a fenced yard, Own their home or they must have proof from their landlord that states that the animal is allowed there. Our adoption fees are based on the animal. They help cover the vaccine, alter, vet check, training, and care of the animal. Also they sometimes help on further medical care if more is needed.
