ADOPTED ON 12-10-16 - This beautiful little guy with the sweetest puppy eyes you have ever seen was left behind like garbage with his handsome brother and adorable sister at a rental house when some thoughtless tenants decided they weren’t worth keeping. They survived on their own for a while until a call came in and they were rescued. Unfortunately, they were in horrible shape. They were skinny, covered in fleas, and almost bald from a bad case of mange. No puppy should ever have to endure the discomfort of these parasites, and their personalities now are testament to what sweet natured and loving pups they will be when they become a part of a family.

Sawyer is a Cur Lab Mix who just loves to wrestle and tumble around with his siblings. He is a bit shy at first, no wonder, after being deserted, but warms up quickly when given loving attention. Then he becomes a big furry lover. Sawyer is gentle, smart, and playful. So far, he gets along with everyone and all the other dogs at his foster home. He will be a big boy, but appears very smart and eager to please. He will be easy to train in his new home and will sure to be a joy to have around. Will you open your heart and home to Sawyer and add him to your family? He is so sweet he will not let you down!

Thanks to his hard-working foster family, he is healthy and growing fast. Our southern rescuers are the front line of angels that save our dogs, they give their time, money and most important, their hearts to the dogs they save. They work long hours to take care of all our dogs and give with their whole heart and truly loves each and every one of the dogs. They ask for nothing and RDVG is truly honored to work with such special people.

Sawyer is ready to slide right into your heart, do you have the requirements of a forever home of his own and endless love to celebrate her special qualities? Now all he needs is many years where he can continue to be a happy and loyal member of a family. Will you open your heart to him and give him the love he so deserves? In return, his companionship and friendship will be with you every day, rain or shine.

ABOUT THE LAB BREED

These dogs are very responsive to kindness and are family-oriented but wary of strangers. Curs have an outstanding disposition and love kids. They are protective of the property and family, but not overly protective or aggressive. Basically, they have the sense to know when there's trouble and when there's not. People who have these dogs say owning a Cur is an enjoyable endeavor for the whole family. They will amaze you daily and will try to please you every way they physically can. As one owner said, he "believed they would cut wood for him if they could."

Labs are healthy dogs and generally will live long lives of 10 to 14 years and are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. They are highly intelligent, good-natured, very willing and eager to please; they are among the top choices for service dog work. They love to play, especially in water, never wanting to pass up the opportunity for a good swim.

These lively dogs have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human leadership and need to feel as though they are part of the family and are easily trained. This breed of dog is wonderful with people of all ages, and interacts well with children.

PET COMPATIBILITY
If a Lab has had plenty of exposure to other dogs, cats, and small animals, and has been trained, he'll be friendly with other pets, too. They get along well with other dogs and can easily adapt to live with other small pets.

CHILDREN
Not only loves kids, he enjoys the commotion they bring with them. He'll happily attend a child's birthday party, and even willingly wear a party hat. Like all dogs, however, he needs to be trained how to act around kids — and kids need to be taught how to act around the dog. As with every breed, you should always teach children how to approach and touch dogs, and always supervise any interactions between dogs and young children to prevent any biting or ear or tail pulling on the part of either party. No dog, no matter how friendly, should ever be left unsupervised with a child.

TEMPERAMENT
The Lab is a wonderful family dog that gets along with all members both big and small, rarely are they aggressive. They are very loving and affectionate and are eagerly playful. Labs have a very positive temperament and get along with most strangers.

PERSONALITY
Lab loves to run, swim, and play with children and adults alike. They are extremely loyal to their owners, hard-working and are generally good-natured, originally a type of gun dog. Labs are extremely versatile and have been put to use in the following roles: hunting, guide dog for the blind, police k9, search and rescue, drug sniffing, retrieving, as well as tricks and competitive obedience.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

ALL interested adopters MUST complete an application; agree to a vet reference check, phone interview and home visit. ALL family members MUST be in attendance for home visits - no exceptions. This helps us get to know everyone in the family so that we can help find the right dog for you
