Observations with Kids: Joni would do best in a home with older children or no children.

Additional Information: Joni is a beautiful, sweet, energetic girl looking for her forever home. This intelligent girl knows a bunch of commands beyond her basic ones including "find it", "look at that," and "leave it". She is excellent with her hand signal commands and would likely do well with advanced training. Joni loves to run, swim, and play fetch. This energetic girl makes a great trail buddy and running partner. She also adores snuggling! Joni loves being part of the action and is very loyal. She also doesn’t mind entertaining herself and waiting patiently for you to come and play! Apply today to meet Joni

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet. Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new dogs.

This fee typically includes health care provided before adoption: all age-appropriate rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention prior to adoption, spay/neuter procedure, microchip when available, SNAP test for parasites, initial health check vet visit when going from the municipal shelter to City Dogs Rescue, and pre-adoption health care for dogs over the age of 1 year as needed. For puppies too young for spay/neuter: The fee is the same but does not include the cost of spaying and neutering.
