My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We first met Keaton at the Lancaster Animal Care Center. We were there to pull another dog when the acting manager, Raul, asked us if we could help Keaton. [Raul told us that when Keaton had come in as a stray with an injury to his front limp, they assumed Keaton had been hit by a car. However, when they sent Keaton to the vet for x-rays, they were horrified to discover a bullet lodged in his leg and the bone in his leg was shattered. We arranged for Keaton to be evaluated by a surgeon and hoped to save his leg. Unfortunately, despite the surgeon’s best efforts, Keaton’s leg could not be saved and was amputated.]

Keaton is a fun-loving, energetic pup. You'd never know he's missing a limb! He loves his walks, plays with toys (he’s still working on fetch), and enjoys a good car ride. Keaton is crate trained and learning to walk on a leash. Understandably, Keaton still has trust issues, so he would be best with an owner willing to give him lots of reassurance. Keaton is being fostered in a home where he is the only pet, but so far, he has not displayed dominance towards other animals. Don’t worry…Keaton is still on alert when someone is at the door! Keaton is affectionate towards his human and won't be far from your side. Be sure to watch your shoes. He's still a puppy and likes to chew if he thinks he can get away with it!

Keaton is German Shepherd mix who is approximately a year and a half old. He’s microchipped, neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and ready for his new home.
