Lucy's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Lucy was abandoned by her owners who were evicted from their home. Lucy quickly became pregnant and gave birth to one little girl. Lucy was then taken in by a neighbor who cared for her and her baby. The kitten has been adopted, but poor momma is still looking for a home. Lucy is such a sweet, young girl. She is very affectionate and playful but can be shy at times. It appears as if she was not handled much as a baby. However, in the short amount of time that she has been in her foster home she has shown great progress and is beginning to trust her foster parents. She loves to be petted and to play but she is cautious around other animals and is not fond of being picked up. With some time and love, she will make a great pet!! Lucy is approximately a year old and will be spayed and vaccinated prior to adoption. Last Hope has a no-declaw policy. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $75.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Cedar Rapids American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
