Rascal's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Rascal was surrendered to the shelter with Star after their owner was unable to continue to care for them. Rascal is a small, 15 pound, black Pomeranian/Dachshund mix that is 6.5 years old. Rascal is high energy and begs for attention. He likes being outside with Star and running in the dog runs. Rascal does bark quite a bit when he isn't given the amount of attention he wants, so a family that is willing to work on proper training would be ideal. Rascal has recently had to go through a major life change and desires to be in a home. Rascal is currently being housed in Vinton at the Vinton Animal Shelter. Please email, DFriendsOfTheShelter@yahoo.com with any questions! Or, if you would like to meet Rascal please fill out an adoption application that can be found at: www.pawsforfriends.com. Thank you and we hope to hear from you soon!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rascal, a Cedar Rapids Pomeranian/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pomeranian/Dachshund for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a Pomeranian/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pomeranian/Dachshund breeders who help with Pomeranian/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
