Mickey's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Mickey! This youngster is a 16 week old friendly, happy, playful, purebred rough coated (long-haired) collie puppy. He loves to play ball and will fetch and return the ball so that you can throw it again. Collies his age are very energetic, so having a fenced yard for this youngster is preferable, but to the right active family, it might not be necessary. As much as he loves to play fetch, he'll ignore the ball to try to get another dog to play with him. For this reason, and the fact that he has always been with other dogs, his foster family thinks that Mickey would prefer living in a home with another dog. Mickey is crate trained and likes his crate. He is housetrained and knows the commands “sit” and “shake.” He is good in the car and on a leash, and learns new things quickly. He has lived with children, but can be a little rough when he plays. He will need some more training on appropriate play, but since he is so young and intelligent, this shouldn't be a problem once he learns what is expected. His foster family describes him as an “easy puppy” because he is housetrained and likes his crate. He also will curl up and fall asleep near his foster mom when she is on the computer. It is unknown at this time how he is with cats. Mickey's adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in Mickey, please contact mickey.lasthopecollies@gmail.com or call 319-530-9770.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mickey, a Cedar Rapids Collie puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a Collie puppy from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie breeders who help with Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
