Charm's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Charm came to the shelter August 21, 2011 as a stray. She was very skinny and in need of some TLC. She stayed in our care for several months before she was adopted, but was later returned due to the owner's allergies. Since coming back to the shelter, Charm has made herself at home! Miss Charmy likes to be brushed, canned food, and to be the center of attention. Charm does have a little bit of spice in her attitude, but she can also be very sweet and affectionate. Charm is currently being housed in Vinton at the Vinton Animal Shelter. Please email, DFriendsOfTheShelter@yahoo.com with any questions! Or, if you would like to meet Charm please fill out an adoption application that can be found at: www.pawsforfriends.com. Thank you and we hope to hear from you soon!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Charm, a Cedar Rapids Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
