Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We hope you like your sweets with a dash of tabasco, because that's Sammy in a nut shell! This absolutely adorable 5 year old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua is a perfect blend of sugar and spice. He arrived at ACL as a very frightened stray, but Sammy has set about winning all our hearts! He's an affectionate, low-key, social little guy who bonds tightly and loves to be cuddled. He'd really love a home with one or two people that want a constant companion to dote upon. Like many of his breed, Sammy tends to get feisty when he's frightened or unsure - it's hard to be a little squirt in a big world! For that reason, Sammy would do best in a home with small dog experience. If you know what little chichis are like, you'll recognize Sammy's bluster for what it is - nerves. Once Sammy trusts you, he's your for life. He'll do best in an adult home, possibly with another small dog or even cat to hang out with. He'd do fine as an only dog, too, as long as you take him for walks, give him lots of cuddle time, and let him hide under a pillow - his favorite place to be! If you'd like to meet Sammy in person, please email Gabrielle at caninemanager@animalcareleague.org.
