Piper's Story...
Piper is 2-3 years old, about 12 lbs, and a possible dachshund-terrier mix. She is crate-trained and house-broken and will always let you know when she needs to go out. She loves to snuggle with her humans and play with other dogs. She really loves being outside and will stay close to her "pack." She sleeps all night in her crate, but would be just as happy to curl up with you, if that's what you prefer. She can be a bit bossy/snarly with smaller dogs over food and prime napping spots - we think she might have had to fend for herself the first couple years of her life-but she's an awfully smart, happy little dog who would love a forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Piper, a DeForest Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in DeForest, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in DeForest.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in DeForest already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a DeForest breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in DeForest paves the way for another one to be saved.
