Dozier is a 4 ½ year old male Boxer mix that weighs 60 pounds. Dozier was rescued from a Georgia animal control facility when he was a small pup by a local rescue group. He was adopted when he was a pup and returned in 2013 to the rescue because he “got too big”. The rescue could not provide him with what he needed after years of being there. Friends To The Forlorn welcomed him into our rescue in August 2016 with hopes of us being able to find him the perfect home.
Dozier loves people and is a sweet loving boy! He is high energy, active, and absolutely loves hiking, creek walking and swimming. If you have a tennis ball and time to play fetch, you will for sure win him over as a life-long companion! He loves butt scratches and will dance all over for them. He does great on car rides and is always ready for a fun new adventure. He knows basic commands (sit, down, stay, come and heel) and has even worked on agility equipment – he loves to learn new things!
Dozier has a more dominant personality and needs an experienced dog owner that can take the lead in the pack. He would do best with a family of adults or one with children 13 or older. Dozier does well with other dogs as long as they are more submissive than him. He is protective of his toys with other dogs so this would need to be managed closely in a home with another dog. Dozier never stops wagging his tail and developed “happy tail” from it hitting the crate. His tail had to be amputated as it was not healing so he does have a short tail now.
