Benny's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, a special needs pet, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, not good with kids, not good with dogs, and good with cats.

Benny's Story...
Hi there, my name is Benny and I am 5 ½ year old Shih Tzu. My owner had to give me up because she was moving and she couldn’t take me with her. She asked IAR to help her so that she didn’t have to take me to the shelter. I am glad I didn’t go to the shelter and I am in a foster home instead. When I first came into my foster home I needed some vetting and IAR took care of me. I had some health issues that my owner didn’t know about but the nice IAR Volunteers took care of all my vetting needs. My foster Mom can explain to you all that had happened. I’m fine now but I have to take some medication because the years I didn’t get to go to the vet I now have a seizure. The medication helps me. I also didn’t get any rules or structure in my last home and that is really important to dogs. That’s a tough one. I am learning that in my foster home. I get along with the dogs and cats that live here but sometimes I don’t like to listen and I snap so my foster Mom puts a “caution” to no small kids in my forever home. In my old home I was kept outside all the time but in my foster home I am trying to be established in a dog pack so I can be taught dog socialization. Some days are better than most. When I meet new dogs or people I might bark but give me a command or a squirt of a squirt gun (I don’t like that) and I get quiet. I settle down then. Just give me a chance to settle into a new environment and then I am fine. I hope you can give me a chance to be a good boy. I am a sweet boy that loves to be cuddled and get belly rubs. Maybe I can be the only dog in your home and get all the love. We can go for walks and then at the end of the day I will lay by your feet. I like you to pet me and hold me. I like to lay by your feet, curled up while you watch TV. So can you call my foster Mom so you can come meet me? We can go for a walk and then when we are done we can take a little nap together? Thanks, Benny.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Benny, a Palatine Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Palatine, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Palatine.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Palatine already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Palatine breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Palatine paves the way for another one to be saved.
