JJ's Story...
JJ will need a special family to adopt him. He is pretty apprehensive at the shelter right now and it takes a bit of time to get him to warm up to you. If you talk softly and go slowly, he will approach you and give you a chance to get to know him. Once leashed, he walks confidently and briskly and is anxious to explore his surroundings. He is very treat motivated so that is a good way to charm him. An experienced dog family would be best. The volunteers think that he will acclimate and once comfortable and feeling safe, will open his heart and show his true personality. He is handsome and sweet. If you think he might be a good match, check him out. JJ is 4 years old and has been at the shelter since August 3. JJ - ID#A404816.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

JJ, a Santa Maria Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Santa Maria, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Santa Maria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Maria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Maria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Maria paves the way for another one to be saved.
