Meet Tater.

This poor fella was brought to our attention by a concerned citizen who was appalled at the conditions he was living in. This lady had been helping a man out who could not afford to take care of his cats. This man let the lady know that in the trailer park he was living in a family had moved away and left their dog. We were told that the dog was tied up with a rope and left with no food, water or shelter. When we went to find him we could not believe what we saw. The trailer park was very run down and he was all the way in the back all alone. This poor guy was tied to an abandoned trailer that was literally falling apart with garbage all around. When we went to get him you could tell he was very scared. He did not want us to get near him at first. He would bark at us and try to get away. Well, we got him and within no time he started to calm down once he realized that we were not going to hurt him. By the next day he was wagging his tail anytime we talked to him and loved being petted. He is a sweet boy that is coming out of his shell now that he has learned what being loved and cared for is.

Tater is a black and brown shaggy boy who is probably mixed with shepherd or chow. He is not that big of a dog and only weighs 40 or so pounds. Won't you please open your heart and home to this sweet boy who knew nothing but neglect and abuse for far too long and show him that people love him.

About Scout's Honor Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Scout’s Honor Rescue is an all-breed, no-kill, Not-For-Profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization committed to bringing Courage, Character and Compassion to Houston’s homeless pet population and making a positive difference in the lives of these stray and abandoned animals and the Houston community as a whole. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to saving the life of a homeless animal.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Scout's Honor Rescue does not currently have its own facility to keep the animals in its adoption program. All animals in our program are fostered by individuals who keep the dog or cat at their residence until it is adopted. Consider opening your home to a dog or cat in need. You become the caregiver to a precious animal – their future is in your hands! It is incredibly rewarding to know that you have given that animal the two most precious gifts- Life and Love. For many of them, this is the first kind hand they have known.

Our Adoption Process...

SHR will require an application and home visit for the adoption of any of our animals. The customary adoption fee is $150 for dogs $85 for cats.
