My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sugar is as sweet as her name, but she could also be named “Silly” because she is a fun and crazy little girl! Sugar had a rocky start, suffering neglect and a coyote attack. She has shown incredible resilience, becoming a trusting and loving dog who is ready to become YOUR perfect companion. She gets along great with the other foster dogs (large and small) and foster cats. She has tried to ignore the cats but they do tend to taunt her with long stares until she starts to chase them. We try to discourage this game and Sugar is good about coming when called.

Sugar loves to cuddle! At bedtime, she will burrow under the covers to the foot of the bed, where she’ll sleep soundly all night long. She is house-trained – has never had an accident inside – and will let you know when she needs to go out. She has a great appetite and we do have to watch her to be sure she doesn’t help herself to the other dogs’ food as well. We would not want her to lose her girlish figure. At 13 pounds, she is just the right size to curl up with you in your favorite chair.

Sugar loves to walk and does well on a leash. She also loves to play, and will chase any toy you toss and bring it back to you. She does an excellent job of entertaining herself with stuffie toys, having learned to toss them up in the air and have fun all on her own. She has learned to sit for treats and is very eager to please. She would be a fabulous dog to work on agility training with as she is also very smart.

Due to a bit of separation anxiety, it is safest to crate Sugar when she’s left alone (without humans). She would do well with a family who is home a good deal of the time and would probably love to have kids to play with. Even though she is crazy and playful, she is very gentle and shows no aggression.
