Hello World!

I am Hera, I am mother to the ‘Greek’ litter. I came to the rescue ready to pop from a shelter, and had my pups in rescue. My darling pups are old enough to start seeking their own homes, and thus I am looking for mine. I am an American pitbull terrier, weighing in at a whopping 45 pounds. I am a sweet girl that LOVES human attention. It is unknown exactly how old I am, if the rescue had to guess they would say I am between 2-3 years of age. My foster mom has done a wonderful job at socializing me. I am fostered with other dogs, big and small breeds. I have a grumpy terrier brother that likes to boss us bigger dogs around and I am ok with that. I co-exist with my foster moms free range African Grey Parrot too, she can travel anywhere in the house and I know to leave her be. At the same time we share the backyard with chickens, yep you heard me chickens. They free range, eat our dog food, and coexist with no problems. I would chase a feline companion at if it ran from me, but I do not want to hurt them. So I will need a bit of correction there, but with training I will coexist just like with the parrot and chickens.  I need a loving home, one with an owner that will play with me, train me and most importantly love me.

While I am a love bug and try to please everyone I have a quark that I must share with you. You see when I hear squeaking, high pitched crying, or I am around super intense little dogs I get a bit anxious. I do not hurt anyone, no biting or otherwise but my body language might scare some. I do not know how to help when I hear these noises, it make me nervous, causes me to stiffen up, fixate on the source and pace.  How do I help? Are they ok? Why are they acting like that? These questions rush my mind when I hear the noises that set me off. When the little terrier here at home gets excited I pace and follow him, I do not understand his body language or energy. Again I am not being pushy, dominant or mean, I am trying to understand them and how to help them and because I do not know how I become anxious. I love kids though! I am very human submissive and cuddly, children about 5 and up should be perfect for me as I love to cuddle and get love and attention. I should also not have toys that squeak, they stir up high anxiety in me and I become fixated and confused. The toy said ouch, like I hurt it… but the others are playing with it still… will I get in trouble? Is the toy like the chickens or bird? Is it hurt, or safe to play with? These questions are just a few I have when the toy yells at me with that high pitched tone.  I am very easily corrected in my ways; all I want to do is please you so I am flexible with any home environment.

I am housebroken, I know basic commands and thanks to my foster mom I am learning more than the basics. I take treats from you very easily, I have no food aggression and I know how to share with all my housemates. I will be spayed, microchiped, and up to date on my vaccinations when adopted. The rescue also provides a month of pet insurance and a wellness check at their vet within 72 hours of my adoption.

If you are looking to add me to your home or would like to know more about me please email Kate’s Rescue @ You can download the adoption application @ and save it as a word document, once edited it can be emailed to them too with the header “Hera”
