My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! May, at only 9 weeks old and 2.8 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 16 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued May just in time.

This sweet and engaging Jack Russell mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. May is also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous markings of gold and fawn that have come out since she received a good, sudsy bath following her release from the shelter.

May is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Jack Russell. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start.

Since May is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time (once a week for an hour) and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to May finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. She would thrive on being the center of attention and would return your love a thousand times over.

May is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen. If May has kind children in her family, she will develop a love for kids and she has the temperament to be a loyal and very loving best friend.

May will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Texas, however a very young puppy like May is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for May to be spayed in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

May will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 8/26/16. If interested in this very sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
