Hello everyone! My name is Durin...I am 18 weeks old. (10/15/16) I am an adorable brindle, floppy-eared Plott Hound mix.
My brother and I almost died at a rural shelter at 12 weeks old. When we got locked in the scary cage there were a lot of dogs barking for help and my shy brother Beck was really scared. It smelled bad and lots of animals were very sick. I told him we would be OK; we'd get out of there somehow. Then, I heard the people talking about something called Parvo. It sounded horrible...it could kill little puppies within days. There was an outbreak at the shelter and they could not afford to save all of us. One day they took Beck & I to the bad room where dogs go and never wake up. Luckily someone burst in just in time saying a rescue group would help us. Later that day these nice people called Angels came to take us away. We were so tired and scared, but I told Beck we had to be brave...this was our ride to freedom! We both started to feel really bad and got sick in the car; once we got to the clinic a vet said we needed special care. We spent 8 terrible days fighting off the dreaded Parvo at some place they call an emergency hospital. Guess what, we beat it just like I told Beck we would!
Next thing we knew we were in a foster home with other nice dogs. Everyone kept barking about forever homes and who would get one first. Well, we went to an adoption event where Beck and I were in a pet parade dressed as a lobster and a crab. We went from almost dead to having people wave and cheer and take our picture. I told Beck that our new families were in the crowd...I just knew it! Sure enough...he found his furever home. I'm really glad Beck found his first; he would be scared without me there to reassure him.
I am learning lots of new things...like walking on a leash, sitting like a good boy, and going potty outside...which I do (most) every time! I am crate trained, but I put myself to bed most nights…no crate needed. My foster mom says I must be an “old soul” because I act like an adult dog in a puppy body…I have not chewed anything but my toys and sticks! I love to play outside with other dogs…so I need a yard. A dog sibling would be great too, but not required. I am good with kids of all ages and new environments; I even go boating & swimming at the lake! So…who wants a handsome, smart puppy that likes to play and cuddle? I promise to love you furever!
