Here's a breed I never saw before, a Portuguese Podengo! I had no idea what that was but when I looked it up, sure enough....that's our Manny. This poor guy had a very tough life up until now. He was seized from the owners after a video was taken of the 10 year old whipping him in the driveway. He came into the shelter covered in black & blue bruises. The court case took several months, giving Manny time to heal his body. He's now here with me in foster care taking the time to heal his mind. And he is doing surprisingly well. He is very affectionate and he listens well. Considering the years of abuse he withstood, I didn't think he would come around so fast. He likes to sleep cuddled up next to me at night. I think he finally feels safe.
Manny is now completely vetted. He came in doing a lot of marking his territory but now that he is neutered that has diminished. He has his shots and had full blood work, he is also microchipped. He is good with most dogs but a meet & greet would need to be done if there is a resident dog in the house. I was told that cats are definitely out. This guy deserves to be pampered and spoiled for the rest of his days. Please do not consider Manny unless you plan on treating him like a king!
