My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is ARCHIE, and I'm a 2-year-old Dachshund mix, weighing 20#. I'm told that I'm a very special dog because I can do just about everything a 4-legged dog can do, with only 3 legs. Yes, I had my back right leg amputated just below the thigh last summer due to paralysis of that foot. I bounced back, literally, the very next day after my surgery, and wanted to run and play with my foster dog friends. But my foster Mom thought otherwise, and made me slow down and take it easy, as I had quite a few stitches and staples all along my thigh that needed to heal.

After recovering from that surgery, I was flying around my big back yard, playing chasing games with the other dogs here. I had such a fun summer! In the fall, another medical emergency happened ... my esophagus and voice box became paralyzed, and I couldn't swallow my food or make any sounds at all. My veterinarian and foster Mom mended me once again, keeping me hydrated and nourished... I was practically a 24 hour a day job for my poor foster Mom, but she loved me so much, she never complained, and her love was the best medicine I could ever get. After around 10 days on meds and I.V. fluids to keep me from dehydration, the numbness miraculously disappeared, and I was cured again!

Now I'm ready to find my very own permanent family, who will love and care for me, and I will do the same for you! I'm a very affectionate little boy, I love to be hugged and cuddled with, and I'll always take a belly rub! I like all dogs and also live with a big black kitty. I can catch treats really good too.

Now from Archie's foster Mom:

Archie is a happy and fun little boy who will just melt your heart! He loves children and all people, but he might be a little shy at first. He's the sweetest little guy and has come a long way, and now it's time to look for his special new family. His big brown eyes will make you smile. Archie was very convincing into conniving me into letting him sleep next to me every night. He's a real cuddler, too, and deserves to be treated like the little angel that he is. He wants to please, and is a very therapeutic little creature, and will make a fabulous companion.

Archie is housebroken, crate trained, up-to-date on vaccinations, and is microchipped. Archie's adoption fee is $200 (cash or check). For more information on Archie, please contact his foster Mom, Debbie, at coachdebbi@aol.com or 630-272-1109.
