My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the adorable Owen. This little bundle of cuteness was a mystery dog for sure. He has the beautiful face of a lab, but the body shape and legs or something short like a corgi, basset hound or dachshund. No one at JoJo's or our vet's office could come up with any firm idea of what Mr. Owen might be. So we had a DNA test done on Owen -- is is 1/4 Chihuahua; 1/4 Cocker Spaniel; 1/8 Beagle; 1/8 Boston Terrier; and the other 25% is too mixed to call. No wonder we couldn't guess what he is! He is 100% mutt - but the most playful, fun and kissing pup we've had.

Poor little Owen was turned in to the shelter at only 5 weeks old with no mom or siblings. The shelter staff loved this little guy and took him home with them each night so that he did not have to live in the shelter. But Owen sometimes has an unusual gait and they had some concern that he may have a problem with his leg or hip. In order to save him from being euthanized, they asked JoJo's to rescue him and find him his forever home.

We immediately had an x ray done and at this point were are told there is a potential issue with his back right leg. You would never know it to watch him run and play. It may resolve on its own, but if not he could be a candidate for surgery. He is too young to know that for sure.

Owen is as cute and sweet as they come -- his foster mom calls him "an absolute doll." If you have it in your heart to rescue this boy despite the possibility that he may need hip surgery at some future date, he really deserves to have his own family to love. This is in no way a life-threatening condition. If it does not resolve on its own as he grows up and is left untreated then he could develop hip dysplasia and be in pain as he gets older, so we need an adopter for him who could and would be willing to get him surgery if the experts decide that is what he needs to avoid a painful future.

If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a home, please email jojosdogrescue @gmail.com and we will send you an application to complete and email back, or you can visit our website http://jojosdoghouse.com and download one. Adoption fee is $250, which includes neuter, vaccinations, parasite treatment and prevention and microchip with lifetime registration. Thanks for choosing adoption!

Please visit our Facebook page JoJo's DogHouse (non-profit) to learn more about us and see many of the dogs we have rescued. We hope you'll join JoJo's family of adopters!
