Brody is a smart and playful boy who wants lots of attention and love. He absolutely loves walks, and would love to go on jogs as well! He always wants to say hi to any dogs he sees, but listens well when you tell him no. He LOVES the dog park, and hopes to find a family who can commit to taking him to run off-leash with other puppies regularly!
He is nearly house trained! He typically whines to go out, but he has accidents if he is left alone for more than 3 hours. He also has accidents when he is in new places, because he gets confused about the potty rules. So a new family would need to have some patience with him. He does catch on quickly in new houses, though! After needing close supervision the first few times visiting my parents house, he now whines to go out when he has to go to the bathroom. He does not have accidents in his kennel overnight anymore, but he has trouble holding his bladder during the day. So he would do best in a situation where his time left alone during the day is limited to 3 hours max.
Brody is playful but gentle and respectful to cats. His current foster has one cat that loves dogs and one cat that doesn’t like them. He stays away from the timid cat and plays gently with the outgoing kitty. It’s adorable to watch! He has had an encounter with an outdoors cat that was very aggressive with him. So because of his small size, he wouldn’t do well in a home with a very aggressive cat. (At 10lbs, Brody is generally smaller than most cats!)
Brody is the happiest when he is with another puppy-friendly dog. He loves to play with bigger dogs and needs a situation where there is another older, active and playful dog in the home who is willing to run and play and teach him the ropes! He goes from a quiet lap dog to a boisterous, playful and happy puppy when he has a willing friend to play with! His favorite place is the dog park! But he would LOVE an older brother or sister! Brody could do well in a home where he is an only "child", if the person is in a situation where they work from home or are able to bring him with to their work.
Brody is very high energy! Now that he is an older puppy, I'm thinking this is a trait that might not go away. While he's respectful and cuddly inside, he really wants to run and run and run when he gets outside! He loves to be chased and he will sprint in circles and figure eights around dogs for hours! Because of this, he would do best in a home with a yard that would give him space to run! H e loves to cuddle in bed with me and now sleeps in bed with me at night. So he hopes to be able to do that in his new home.
Brody is a special dog that will make an amazing and loving little brother in his forever home! He can't wait to meet you!
