My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thomas's adoption fee is $350.

Hello, my name is Thomas. I am an approximately 6 year old energetic Wirehair Dachshund. My foster mom describes me as a sweet l'il man who loves to snuggle, because being close to you, or another dog is how I best love to spend my time. I will be your shadow and follow you where everywhere you go because I will love you that much. I would be best suited to an adult only home, or one with older (teenage) children.

I am looking for a home with another gentle, playful small dog or two to have as friends (I'm not always comfortable around larger dogs). I love to play and when you're not home I’ll have company and snuggle buddies so I won't stress. One of my favourite activities is playing chase with my foster brother.

I love to go for walks and walk very well with the two dogs in my foster home. I am a perfect gentleman when I meet most other dogs on our walks. I can be unsure of large dogs and may bark at them. Speaking of barking, I will bark if someone comes to the door but just in case you didn't hear the door bell - other that I'm not that vocal.

I am food driven, but who isn't...right? Give me a treat and we're instantly best friends. Oh, and I just love ice cubes! They are like a treat for me.

I am a bit of a hoarder in that I like to keep all my belongings in my bed. My foster mom laughs at me as I collect my favourite things and put them in my bed with me at night. I have not shown possessive or aggressive behaviour when one of the other dogs wants to play with something of mine. Truth be told, a lot of what is in my bed probably belonged to them first but, shhhh, don't tell them.

I came with a history of marking in the house. My foster mom thinks it only happens when I first get to a new home and am settling in. Can't blame a guy for trying to make the new home his own...right? It is however a good idea not to give me too much water before bed time because I may have an accident if I can't hold it until morning.

When I came into the rescue I had some skin issues that turned out to be allergy related. I was treated with medicated shampoo and was put on a single protein, wheat free and rice free food and my skin has cleared up nicely.

My foster mom says I love to love my humans. Will you be my forever love and family? I can't wait to have a forever home of my own.
