This precious girl was found as a stray roaming the streets of Wilmington during this August heat wave. She had no collar, tag or microchip. She was very thin and dehydrated. She has obviously has been neglected physically and emotionally. We named her Maggie and other then being underweight and a little weak, she checked out well at the vet. Her blood work was completely normal. Her age is estimated to be somewhere between 10-12 years and she weighs 18.6 lbs. We recently put Maggie in foster care and got an update from her foster mom. 'She is an absolute sweetheart. She loves nothing more than to be around people. Even though she is almost blind, she still tries to shadow me. She will only stay outside if she has company with her. She doe not like to lay on the dog bed on the floor but prefers the sofa, even better yet, she prefers sleeping on the bed. I don't let her sleep on the bed with me but when my parents are watching her, she'll hang out on the bed with my mom all day. She absolutely hates the crate, she will whine and bang on the rails.
Maggie is fine with all people, kids and other dogs. She is also cat safe. There is no adoption donation for Maggie, we just want to find her a nice place to call home for however long that may be. As we learn more about her we will update her biography. (updated 10/21/16)
