Yogi's Story...
YOGI is a 4 year old red and white Chi mix male who is smarter than the average bear and most of the other dogs at his foster home. He is small, weighing in at 7.4 pounds, and would fit nicely in a pic-a-nic basket or a comfy dog bed in his new home. His foster says that Yogi isn't too keen on being picked up and carried around so he may not be good in a home with smaller children who may try to pick him up. If he feels threatened, he may nip. The only time he likes to be held is when he must leave the house for something, and then he wants that security. When at home, he has a very independent personality. He will sleep snuggled up against his foster's back or may lay up against a leg or nap at or on her feet, but he is not a lap dog. He gets along with dogs and cats, but he doesn't really play with them. He will act like he wants to play, but is too scared to join in, perhaps because of his small size. He's a great dog, just not a big fan of cuddling. He has been vetted, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Yogi if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit rescue to cover the cost of the veterinary care he has received.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Yogi, a Union City Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Union City, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Union City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Union City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Union City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Union City paves the way for another one to be saved.
