My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Colin Collie was pulled from a high kill shelter in Houston alongside a littermate. It is hard to imagine what exactly their life was up to that point, but they were emotional wrecks at the shelter, scared to even stand and trembling with fear, but came into their own quickly once out.

Colin is vivacious, flirtatious and terrifically bright, an older puppy of less than one year. He is wonderful company, will sit by your feet, follow you around, give marvelous greetings at the door, jump to your knees for attention. He however is clearly a dog who was not touched much growing up and is not particularly into it.

That makes him a fairly quirky rescue pup, lol! Colin is not quick to bond, but once he makes his mind up is very devoted. He is a fun little character regardless. He crates very well, gets along with everyone (fine around kids) and has no sharpness to him.

Colin loves, and we do mean LOVES, other dogs, and would be an ideal addition for those seeking a second dog as a playmate. He is currently being fostered by a doggie daycare and is one of their very best players :)

Colin likes to talk and is a bit of a barker, although in his crate he is quiet and he does not seem to be an alarm barker. He will be a noisier dog, however, and between that and being a busy little dog who is usually on the go, we do not recommend him for apartment or condo dwellers.

If you would like to take on about as charming a project dog as there can be, Colin may be the boy for you. He is so focused on your presence and so very bright, he should be an extra fun training companion. Clicker users are particularly encouraged to apply. He is extremely food motivated.

Applications are available on the southpawsexpress.org website, or by contacting Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com. His adoption fee is $450.
