My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This guy is a sweet little boy in a big beagle body! He is a larger than most - 35 lbs, but carries himself regally. He has a booming bay, so would not work in an apartment!
He loves to run in the fenced yard, actually plays fetch with his toys, is great on a leash, gets along famously with 2 beagles and 2 cats, and rides well in the car. He's housebroken, crate trained (he has a special playpen!) and very well mannered!
The preferred home for Hamilton would be a one or two dog household or even a cat if there are no other dogs, with lots of activity, and hopefully events he can join in, like dog park, rides to the pet store, walking around town in dog friendly areas, etc. He might work as an only dog but in a busy family, not a homebody hanging out situation. He is active for his 8 years, and although he doesn't have anxiety, he doesn't enjoy being alone as he is used to being with other creatures and people. He lets you know how he feels when you return from having left him home, by barking and running around when you let him out of his pen. He is quiet until you let him out and then he barks with joy! It's like having your own little fan club every day!
If you have more one dog or more, we ask for experienced owner(s) since he is possessive of toys and chewies and could possibly cause skirmishes if you are not used to pack behavior. Even if he is just sitting with a toy and not doing anything with it, he will growl and not let you near him, so he needs someone that understands leadership to prevent any interdog issues or problems with small children. We don't let him on the main couch as he has his "own" couch to lounge on, and although he sleeps in the master bedroom at night, he prefers his pen to being in a dog bed.
Overall Hamilton is a loving, sweet, gentle boy who would love to be part of your family. Put in your application!
