PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

8/16/16 Chance is a great dog who just needs a chance with the right family! He is a super sweet, loving guy who is roughly 1-2 years old and weighs about 60-70lbs. Chance is great with all people - including kids of all ages - and is also fantastic with other dogs. He is submissive to other dogs even when it comes to his food. Chance is not good with cats and would probably kill one if he got the chance. But if you are not a cat, he is all about love, cuddles, and sloppy kisses! Chance has separation anxiety and needs a home with a family who has someone home a lot of the time, or can take him with them. Chance loves to ride in the car! But again, he gets anxious if left in the car alone. He can be quite destructive if left unattended, due to his anxiety. He will destroy a crate if left in one, so that isn't an option for him. Anxiety medication may be something to consider for him. Chance does very well outside, but can jump a fence. He doesn't run away, he just doesn't want the confinement of the fence. He just jumps the fence and then goes to the porch and lies down at his foster home. :) Chance needs a special home with a family who is willing to help him through his anxiety issues and can commit to being with him most of the time, or put him in a doggy daycare, or devise another plan to make sure he isn't left alone. He will be worth the extra effort and will reward you with endless slobbery kisses! Chance is in a foster home in Arkansas but out of state transport is available once he has a confirmed adopter. About Adopt-A-Stray - MA

About Our Rescue Group...

Adopt-A-Stray Rescue was founded in Jan. 2010 by Kelley Prichard. Kelley saw a need for the unwanted pets at the local Animal Control to be given a chance at life. Adopt-A-Stray is a non profit (pending) Rescue group. We routinely pull dogs (and sometimes cats) from the euthanasia list at our local kill shelter. We also take in strays and owner surrenders as space/resources permit. Most of our available pets are located in ARkansas and are transported to the northeast once they are adopted or have a foster home to go to. The transporters we use most often are Got Orphans Transport ( and Alpha Dog Transport ( All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations and are seen by our vet prior to going to their new homes. Please email for more info on our adoption procedures.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Call for an appointment. Since we dont have a physical shelter, it is important that you call or email before trying to meet the pets. We have most of them in foster homes, some here in Arkansas and some in the Northeast.

Our Adoption Process...

I required that all pets in the home are current on veterinary care - this includes vaccinations and heartworm prevention, minimum.
I require that every pet in the home (ok, maybe not fish and reptiles) be spayed/neutered unless there is a valid medical reason not to.
I have an adoption application and contract for each pet.
My adoption fee varies, depending on what type of pet, breed, age, and medical condition.
