Facts about Ollie

  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Ollie is a cute little boy who was a stray in the Louisville Metro area. Ollie is estimated between 1-2 years of age however there is no way to know for sure. Although we know nothing about his past Ollie has a personality that speaks to having been a well trained family member. Ollie has been nothing but friendly with everyone he has met from the 4 year old to the cashier at Tractor Supply. He is a bit rambunctious overall but when on leash he has perfect manners and was very well behaved when he visited the TSC store. Ollie is extremely playful with other dogs in a way that would probably worry most people. Like most Malinois he isn't the most appropriate in his style wanting to immediately jump on top of backs, nip, trip, and be an overall pest to the other dogs. For other tolerate and playful dogs this is no big deal but it could become an issue with less tolerant dogs. He is in no way aggressive towards other dogs but simply has a rough play style. Ollie has also had some mild nipping behavior towards people when he is really worked up and playing. He is not aggressive but he is true to his breed in his mouthy behavior. He is honestly quite gentle about it (take it from someone who has a Malinois who isn't gentle!) and seems to know he isn't supposed to but can't resist sometimes.

Ollie is a bit funky looking to be totally honest. It appears his front legs are mildly deformed however this doesn't impact his activity level at all. His head is also shaped differently than a traditional Malinois leading us to suspect he is either the victim of really terrible breeding habits or possibly mixed with some type of terrier breed. If you can look past his funny looks though you will find a heart of gold in Ollie.

Ollie is searching for a loving home with experience handling high energy dogs that has the dedication to provide Ollie with the training and boundaries necessary to ensure his continued success.

About Tier Haven Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Tier Haven Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit animal rescue agency based in Louisville, KY that specializes in German Shepherds and similar working breeds. Tier Haven realizes that many German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) find themselves in shelters due to a lack of training and understanding of the breed. Tier Haven is a no-kill rescue which limits the number of dogs we can care for at any given time for this reason Tier Haven focuses on taking dogs from shelters that are in direct risk of euthanasia and has a separate policy for owner surrenders.

Surrender Policy

Tier Haven accepts owner surrenders on a conditional basis due to the large number of dogs in kill shelters. If you have a dog you would like to surrender you must email pictures and the reason for surrendering to Tier Haven does charge a fee for surrendering a dog; $80 for a fully vetted dog (vaccinations, alter, heartworm test) when vet records are provided and $150 for un-vetted dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

Tier Haven requires an adoption application to be completed and processed prior to meeting or adopting any of our dogs. As a completely foster based organization Tier Haven relies on the application to help ensure that adopters are only meeting dogs that are suitable for their household based on various factors. The application is completed via email and you may email us at to obtain an application. When submitting an application please contact your vet clinic and provide them with a release of information and also inform your personal references that they will be contacted.

Once your application is processed you will be contacted by a volunteer to discuss potential dogs and arrange a meet and greet. Since we are a foster based group we only allow up to three (3) dogs on each meet and greet to keep it manageable for everyone. Meet and greets are often held at public locations to respect the privacy of our foster homes and they are scheduled at the discretion of the foster homes.

Tier Haven charges an adoption fee of $250 for each dog. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart-worm test, micro-chip, and monthly preventative care while with our organization. All medical records are provided at the time of adoption along with an adoption contract.
