My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

One can't help but wonder how such a stunningly beautiful, regal and refined gentleman found himself homeless and living on the streets. We were absolutely shocked when we dropped by a local shelter right before closing time, and found this guy in the kennels. He had been picked up by animal control as a stray, and (incredibly) surprisingly, no one was out there looking for him.

Tahoe's personality is every bit as perfect as his crystal blue eyes. He is calm and relaxed in the house, and can lay at your feet for hours, but the second you are ready for an adventure, he is right by your side, raring to go! He is truly the best of both worlds. He has an endlessly wagging tail and an endearing pony prance when he is excited. Tahoe is house trained and has wonderful manners. He is great meeting new people and has been friendly with everyone he has encountered.

As perfect he is, Tahoe is not a low maintenance dog. He will require daily brushing and regular grooming. His fur is thick, fluffy and long, and no matter how much you brush, your house, and you, will probably will be covered in it! Tahoe, by nature of the breed and his own personality, is a wanderer. He will absolutely take the opportunity to run away if it given the chance and it isn't likely that he will ever be a dog that can be off leash in an un-fenced area. Tahoe's ideal home will have a secure, tall fence and a family that will not leave him unattended, is dedicated to walks and also to leashed play in the yard. Tahoe will do best with a family who is home more often than not. He is non destructive in but does show some signs of separation anxiety when left alone for long periods by himself. He does not like to be crated, and would do best in a larger gated area if you prefer he is kept in one area while you are away from home. If none of that scared you away....keep reading!

Tahoe absolutely loves children and we would love a family for him! Even though Tahoe is a big boy, he is very respectful and gentle with kids and we think he would do great in a home with children who are comfortable around a large dog. Tahoe currently lives with a six year old human foster sister who he adores! He also lives with two cats, who absolutely despise him and make no secret of it, and he treats them like they are his very best friends.

A home with Husky, or Northern Breed experience is preferred however, a home who has done research on the breed will be considered. Tahoe is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Tahoe, please fill out an application on our site OMDrescue.org
