Huggy-Adopted!'s Story...
Huggy, a mastiff lab mix, is as sweet as can be, loves people and kids, and walks well on a leash, though he is strong. He was severely underweight when he was found on the streets, and now weighs 78 pounds. Given his size and strength, he might do best in a home with kids age 5 or older, or a family with big dog experience. He would also do better with dogs of a similar size and age as he does want to play given the opportunity and is sometimes competitive about attention. We don't think he should be in a house with cats. Around the house he is largely a couch potato, but enjoys getting out for daily exercise and makes a great jogging partner. He can jump a four foot fence if motivated, so he cannot be left unattended in a yard without a minimum six foot fence. Huggy has learned his basic commands and is well mannered.
Birth date 8/1/14

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Huggy-Adopted!, a Detroit Mastiff/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mastiff/Labrador Retriever for sale in Detroit, or seeking a Mastiff/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Detroit.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Detroit already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Detroit breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mastiff/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Mastiff/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Detroit paves the way for another one to be saved.
