Rex's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, and up to date with shots.

Rex's Story...
Rex is a senior dachshund who is new to Helping Strays because his owner moved and could not take him along. Rex doesn't understand why he is at the shelter and is timid around other dogs. He would do best in a home with no small children and with someone who is patient, kind, and loving. If you adopt Rex and give him time, he will reward you with years of love and loyalty back.

Rex's adoption fee is $175; he is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Some of our pets are in foster care. If you are interested in a specific pet, please contact the shelter at (618) 939-7389 to arrange a meeting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rex, a Columbia Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Columbia, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Columbia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Columbia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Columbia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Columbia paves the way for another one to be saved.
