My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Poet is a 4 pound, 10 month old, female, purebred cream merle Pomeranian.

She is very happy, active and loves to play, cuddle and chew on her bones. Poet has spent the last few months with her foster mommy and has learned crate training, how to walk on a leash and has become more social. She is still a bit protective and has quite the bark for such a small girl, but once she knows it’s safe, she settles right down. We believe this is because she just hadn’t received the socialization she needed but she’s getting better every day!

Poet is still working on potty training and needs some behavioral training as well. She will do best in a home with guardians who have Pomeranian experience and the patience and time to work with her. She gets along great with other dogs and cats and would excel in a home without small children and where she would get lots of stimulation and not be left alone for too long.

Poet is a special needs dog as her foster mommy noticed she was lifting her hind legs when she walked, as if she were skipping. After a trip to the vet and then a specialist, we have determined that Poet has luxating patellas in both rear legs. This means her knees pop in and out of the socket and can be uncomfortable for them if left untreated. This condition is quite normal for Pommies – it’s one of the things many of them are prone to. The specialist has recommended surgery in both legs.

Poet’s surgery for both legs is estimated at $4000 at ASEC in West LA. This generous discount would be extended to anyone who chooses and is approved to adopt Poet.

If you are interested in adopting sweet Poet and agree to accept financial responsibility for her surgery, we will gladly review your application and get back to you just as soon as we’ve had a chance to review it.
