Hi! My name is Lucy! I am a chihuahua/dachshund mix and I am about 2 years old. I may be small but I have a huge heart and a lot of love to give! I was born without front legs. I have two normal size back legs and not having front legs doesn't stop me one bit. I do need a little help going outside to potty. I'm working really hard on house training. I'm completely kennel trained. I love to play with my foster sister. I would prefer a home with a small to medium size dog sibling to play with. I also love small chew toys to cuddle with and socks to chew up. I love my human and my fur siblings a lot. My foster momma loves me very much but I am ready to find my forever family. Are you my perfect family??
Lucy does need some help socializing and can be a bit shy at first. It may take a few days for her to warm up, but once she knows she is safe she becomes your very best friend. She is not a fan of large dogs or busy households. Lucy has not been around cats or children so it is unknown how she would react to them. Lucy would probably be best in a home without small children. She is going to make a great addition to a home that will take the time and appreciate her and her little quirks. She is not a fan of tile or wood flooring because it is a little harder for her to get around, she figures it out but prefers to spend the majority of her time on carpet or a rug. Dog beds in the areas with hard flooring are her favorite! She loves to play in the grass too! Provide stuffed toys and things for her to play with and watch out for your socks because she can be sneaky with those things!
Lucy should NEVER be left unattended outside and will need to be taken out with an adult whenever she is going out. She can not go upstairs and has a hard time getting over little humps or door frames. She does become accustomed to things around the house over time but it will take time and patience for her to learn in a new home. Lucy does have a wheelchair and we have been working on teaching her how to use it, but she does NOT use her wheelchair yet. She is very scared of the chair still and may never want to use it but we are hoping with the right family she will continue to learn how to feel safe in her wheelchair and learn to use it to get around. She is sassy, sweet, and adorable and this is what we all love about Lucy!

About The Bella Foundation

About Our Rescue Group...

Every year thousands of animals are euthanized or sent home to die because the people who love them cannot afford the cost of veterinary care. Stray and abandoned animals have even fewer options when they are brought into a clinic or veterinary office with no owner to pay for their care.

At The Bella Foundation, we believe that every animal should receive the best possible care regardless of the owner's ability to pay. When an owner brings an animal into a clinic for care and cannot afford the cost, the attending veterinarian can contact The Bella Foundation for assistance. If assistance is given, the owner must agree to volunteer at least 8 hours of their time at a local animal shelter. Stray or abandoned animals are cared for with no stipulation attached.

The Bella Foundation takes the placement of animals in homes very seriously and our goal is to do everything possible to match the right animal with the right animal. Our adoption application can be found on our website.
