Hi there,

My name is Justice! My foster mom calls me "sweet and mighty Justice" because in spite of whatever I went through prior to arriving at the shelter, I am so loving and loyal. These grey hairs and "beauty marks" on me represent my endurance and spirit; have no fear!
My temperament is cool, calm, collected and trusting of people. I'm low energy most of the time; moderate when walking around in social settings. I'm finishing up heartworm treatment and will hopefully be heartworm free by February, 2017. My energy level may or may not change by then because while I am 5 1/2 years old, I also hope to feel even better soon!

Training: I'm house trained, crate trained, and I ride well in the backseat (but my black hair sheds) and cargo area. I'm pretty good with basic commands. I am a people pleaser, treat motivated, and affection/attention motivated. I pay attention when my people talk to me; I know that they are the boss. The exception is when I'm on a walk because I'm more alert of my surroundings than my people; I need to work on this. I've learned to play with toys since I've been in foster care; how fun!

Socialization: I love hanging around the house with my people, but a walk a day also makes me happy and is good for me. Also, I have been out and about to some pet friendly places in Raleigh. I loved that and behaved well! When there is a lot going on (e.g. festivals), I pull more because it's so much and I'm curious. I've met quite a few dogs and have had some play dates. So far, I'm more comfortable with female dogs than male dogs and especially dogs who are not super dominant. The dogs I've been around a lot are a male husky, a small female terrier mix, and a female bulldog; all that goes fine! With dominant dogs, I sometimes get scared and display a mix of reactions depending on the dog and setting ranging from defensiveness, going off to myself, or turning away to send a calming signal saying I'm no threat. Once I'm done with my heartworm recovery, I hope to have more play dates where I learn to play better and have more and more positive, rewarding experiences! I haven't been around many cats yet.

Medical: I've been neutered, have a microchip, and just finished heartworm treatment. I'm in the recuperation phase now, where my heart rate must not get elevated. I've had entropion surgery so that my eye lash no longer scratches my eye. I had a bunch of wounds that are mostly healed. I was underweight, but am now a good weight ranging from 45-50lbs. I'm up to date on immunizations. I do have some alopecia behind my ear, but I'm so cute. My eyes and short nose will melt your heart.

I'm a very easy, kind, obedient dog who wants a FurrEver home where I'm adored and treated well. I have many years of love to give. Email JMartz2000@hotmail.com if you want us to meet!
