You know what they say about pit bulls, right? We are the world's BEST snugglers and some of the loviest dogs you'll ever meet. My name is Nala. I'm 2 years old, 40 pounds, and my foster mom calls me her big smooshy lover girl! I'm sweet as can be and well behaved to boot. I'm great with house training, crate training, walking nicely on my leash (with a harness), and I even know several commands. I'm good with kids, dogs, and most cats. I say most because sometimes I like to chase them and get in their business, so if your cat doesn't like that, we wouldn't be a good match. I still love to chew and sometimes need to be redirected to chew on only things I'm supposed to chew on. I don't need a high fence, but a fenced in yard would help keep me safe. A real fence only, though. No invisible fences for me! My recall is really good so I might even be ok to roam on my own so long as you keep an eye on me or have me on a tie-out. I'm always good for a snuggle or a belly rub and I love treats, too. I'm a great buddy because I just love to be where my people are. I am up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. My adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt me here:

About Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Hearts of Hope's mission is to save homeless unwanted dogs. Pet overpopulation is a global crisis. Our local animal shelters are full of wonderful dogs that just need more time and help finding the right home. Many of our dogs come from these local kill shelters and others come from urgent rescue situations spanning as far as Beirut, Lebanon. Hearts of Hope strives to help as many dogs as possible. If we are able, we will help. We know we can't save them all, but it matters to the ones we can save.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue located in Grand Rapids, MI. It was founded by Director, Janelle McFarlane November 23, 2011. Our rescue dogs are provided with the best possible vet care, a safe place to stay and the love they deserve. We do not have a shelter facility. Our volunteer foster homes take these wonderful dogs into their homes until we find their forever families. Our organization is devoted to helping dogs in need and works diligently to find them loving forever homes where they can happily live out the rest of their lives.

Our Adoption Process...

1. The first step is completing our application at

2. If your application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit interview. We will bring the dog over for a visit and conduct and interview with you.

3. Then we will both take a day to consider whether it is the right home for the dog.

4. If everyone is in agreement, the adoption will take place and you will sign an adoption contract and commit to giving our rescue dog a forever home.

We are a non-profit organization. Our adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and they range from $150-$300. Our fees help us cover our dog's vet care, food, supplies and other expenses to keep the rescue running. All dogs must be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, tested for heartworms, vaccinated and wormed as appropriate for age and checked for fleas prior to or within 30 days of adoption.

Note: There are no refunds on adoption fees. Adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and are tax decuctible.
