Did you know that black cats have the most difficult time getting adopted?  We can’t understand why, especially when you take a look at a cat like Smith.  He is as entertaining as he is beautiful; a perfect kitten companion, full of energy and curiosity.  Just imagine what a handsome adult he’ll grow up to be!

His foster tells us that Smith is very friendly with new people, loves affection, is endlessly curious, and loves his feather wand toy.  During play time you’ll get to see what a good jumper he is as he soars through the air to attack the feather toy.  He also has a funny little meow that is reminiscent of a squeaky toy -- how cute is that?! Smith wants to be King Kitty and prefers to be the only cat in the home.

If you’re looking for a young cat, full of zest and zeal, drop us a line to learn more about Smith.  He is already neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, microchipped, and is only $50 to adopt.

Cat Town is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, formed by long term volunteers from Oakland Animal Services (OAS) and other Bay Area shelters. We have partnered with OAS to take the cats who are least likely to do well in a shelter setting. About Cat Town

About Our Rescue Group...

Cat Town is a 501(c)(3) cat rescue organization based in Oakland, CA. Formed by volunteers of Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (Oakland's municipal shelter), our mission is to find homes for the cats least likely to be adopted from OAS because they can't handle the stress of the shelter environment. By getting these cats into foster homes, they can relax and show their true personalities to potential adopters. We focus on older semi-feral kittens, stressed, shy or undersocialized cats, and cats who are older and/or have special needs. We are a relatively new organization and are all-volunteer run. We operate on a shoestring budget so can always use financial donations, as well as food, litter and other supplies. We are always looking for great foster homes and volunteers for everything that we do. Helping these vulnerable cats is pure joy! Please contact us at info@cattownoakland.org to get involved.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our cats are in foster homes, mostly in Oakland, CA, but some are in surrounding cities. Our fosters are generally very flexible about scheduling cat introductions.

Our Adoption Process...

All of our cats are in foster homes, mostly in Oakland, CA, or other nearby cities. We will talk to you by phone to make sure the cat sounds like a good fit for your home before setting up an introduction in the foster home. We have a pretty straightforward adoption application, which you will be asked to complete only after you have met a cat who you want to adopt. Our adoption fees for kittens and cats up to age 7 are $50 for a single cat or $75 for pair; cats age 8 an older are $35 for a single cat or $50 for a pair. All cats are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations and microchipped. Cats age six months or older are tested for FIV/FeLV.
