Meet Trooper. This adorable lab is a 5-year-old calm, sweet guy who needs a new home because he attacked the neighbor's chickens and keeping him leashed or contained is not an option for the current family. Trooper is a special guy for so many reasons, the biggest being his ability to overcome adversity. A few years ago Trooper was let out by a housesitter and he took off. No one was able to find him for a few days until a farmer happened across him with his leg stuck in a fence. Sadly, Trooper's rear, right leg was amputated. Trooper bounced back quickly and still runs as fast (or faster) than the family's other dogs with 4 legs.

Trooper is a gentle soul who still loves to run and play. He has been raised around children of all ages and is patient with them. He is also around other dogs. He likes to play and wrestle a bit. Sometimes he plays fetch, but he isn't always great about bringing the ball back. Trooper has been around outside cats. He does chase them sometimes, but he is also willing to lay in the sunshine together with them.

Trooper is looking for a home who will help us get him to his vet appointment for vaccines and a heartworm test once he is placed. He is already neutered. Trooper has recently lived outside since the family decided they didn't want dogs inside. We are guessing that he is still housebroken. He has never been crated, but is sometimes is in an outside pen.

Trooper weighs about 60 pounds. We think that he will need a home that doesn't have too many steps. We just aren't sure if he can climb stairs with his three legs, as he has never had to do that before. We also think a fenced yard would be ideal.

If you would like to meet Trooper, please complete an adoption application on our website at This is the first step of the adoption process. Trooper's adoption fee is $150.

About PawSwaP of Greater Lafayette

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a rescue/ rhoming service that provides education and assistance for owners in our community to keep pets in their home. When that is not an option or we come across animals in need, we will take them into our foster-based program, work with them, seek all necessary vetting, and find them the perfect home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do various adoption events in the community. If you would like to meet one of our available adoptables, please email us!

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application on our website. Once we have reviewed the applications, we will contact the potential adopters to arrange a meet and greet. This can take several days depending on the popularity of the animal.
