NEEDS FOSTER OR ADOPTER…… Angie is probably a Catahoula/Lab mix or similar. She is around 2 years old and although tall probably weighs around 45-50 pounds. Angie is living in a home with approximately 45 other dogs. She is sweet but she has not been well socialized so she is afraid at times. We think that Angie will come around quickly once she is out of the environment that she is in now. She will need an experienced adopter (or foster) who can give her the TLC needed to help her adjust and where she can learn to live in a calm environment. She is a possible flight risk so will need a very secure back yard. Many of the dogs who have been taken from this home have been successfully rehabbed and placed in loving homes. It just takes that special person to give them a little time, patience and love. Is that you??

If you are interested in meeting/adopting Angie or even fostering her please email us at livlovlafdream@yahoo.com or fill out an adoption application on our website at http://forgottendogs.org/adopt/application/ - Be sure to say that you are looking for Angie.Thank you!!

About Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project

About Our Rescue Group...

We rescue in an historical area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project November of 2011 to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray, abandoned, and neglected dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with access to free spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field to strays that we can not immediately pick up. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 1,000 dogs, and a few cats, from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible.

Our Adoption Process...

You can find our adoption application online at http://forgottendogs.org/adopt/application/. Our adoption fees are $150 for adult dogs ages 2 and older and $175 for puppies up to 2 years old (plus an additional spay/neuter deposit on those that are too young at the time of adoption: $75 local, or $250 for long-distance adoptions). Long distance adoption transportation costs vary based on size/weight/breed of the individual dog being adopted. We have an adoption application and contract. All animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, if old enough, or, for young puppies, arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.
