Well hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart! This sweet, beautiful Great Pyrenees came to rescue as a stray, caring for her two puppies. Upon rescue, she got a big long bath, and as soon as she knew her puppies were in good hands, she slept for nearly two days straight. Her puppies have homes; her job is done.
Mary Lou is full-grown at 65 pounds, so she’s on the smallish size for a Pyr. She has the softest fur and boasts cream-colored badger markings. Her birthdate is estimated to be 4/28/2015.
Mary Lou is very athletic and requires an 8' wooden fence, a modified 6’ wooden fence, or wrought iron fencing, as going over anything less is not even a challenge for her. The fence at her foster home works quite well – it is a 6’ wooden fence modified very inexpensively with fence pickets and brackets that create a shelf she can’t jump over.
Mary Lou is house trained and leash trained. She loves people, and loves to cuddle with her humans on the couch and bed. With her doggy playmates, she loves zooming in and out of the doggy door, up and over the furniture, and out into the yard again. She likes to spend about half her time outside watching the birds and squirrels, and the other half lounging with her humans. Someone who is home often will suit her best.
Regarding other doggy playmates, she appreciates a slow introduction and a moderate energy level. She gets along well with male and female dogs, people of all ages, but not cats! Mary Lou will flourish with continued positive reinforcement. She is an amazing dog and a wonderful companion.
Mary Lou is available for adoption only in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
