Red is a 1 year old, 50 pound sweet boy who absolutely loves cuddling up to watch a movie. He's still struggling with his fear of the outside, but with the techniques provided by Fred the trainer I've been seeing some improvement. I still think a home outside the city would be best for him. On quiet nights he's a superb walker, but the second we're met with a stroller or a grocery cart or an idling car, he reverts back to his scared little self. He also is not good with dogs he meets on the street, often snapping at them if they get to close. This behavior has made me wary of his interaction with my cats. I Have a 2 level apartment which is great for keeping them separate so it's not too much of a problem. I do frequent introductions with Red on a leash. One of my cats is very curious about him, but I'm not getting a good read on how Red is going to react if I let him get too close. He is house trained and does just fine with other dogs. He has not been cat tested.

If someone is looking to adopt a sweet, quiet (he rarely ever barks) cuddly couch potato, Red is the guy for them!

About Second Chance Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, individual, private rescue group dedicated to giving unwanted dogs and cats a second chance. Most of the animals we rescue are strays and or owner surrenders to high kill city shelters. Many of them have been pulled off “death row”. We are very passionate about what we do, we love and care for these animals unconditionally. Our goal is to place our homeless rescues in permanent loving homes as their former owners have already abandoned them at least once before.

Adoption process includes adoption application, phone interview and home visit. Vet references are checked!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a physical shelter, we place our rescues in foster homes or boarding facilities where they are socialized and nurtured back to health before we place them in their forever home. If you are interested in adopting a friend, kindly look at our available pet on this site.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption/Foster Application must be completed online via the link below.

Home visit is required along with Vet references. Our full list of fees have been listed on the adoption application. Our dogs come fully vetted and have to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
