My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lukas is a young male German Shepherd Dog.  We estimate he's only around 2 years old, still an adolescent.  He weighs around 64 pounds, though he's still putting on some needed weight.

He came into rescue after being stray for several months.  A whole neighborhood of caring people worked to catch him and get him to safety.  He seems to be very relieved that his ordeal is over -- he's a house dog at heart.

He loves other dogs.  He snuggles with them, plays, and even grooms them, and loves having canine companions.  He also loves people, and most especially small kids.  We would love to find him a home where he'll be able to have kids and other dogs to play with.

He is already crate-trained and house trained.  He's still got a little "puppy mischief" in him as he learns what's allowed (kitchen counters are especially intriguing to him).

Lukas already has the foundation for basic obedience.  He knows how to sit, and he's working on the down command in his foster home.  He has excellent leash manners too.

Lukas is learning how to take treats with a soft mouth, but it's a work in progress.  This is something that his adopter can easily continue working on with him.

He loves to follow his people around the house. He's a happy, loving dog.  He's sensitive, with a soft soul.   He isn't a bold, protective German Shepherd Dog.  He needs a loving human who will continue to make him feel safe and secure.

A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt.
