My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET NOLA -

This Super-adorable 14 month old AKC pup (no papers) weighs just 7.9 lbs and arrived last week at the rescue. She is such a loving, sweet, shy little girl who is looking for her very own loving and FOREVER family. While we can't share too many details or photos yet, we wanted to share her with you. Nola is spayed, fully vetted and has had her deciduous baby teeth pulled. NOLA is a tiny, tiny, mini princess. Nola has been very neglected and starved. She needs considerable weight gain. Nola had her 7 day vet recheck and all is looking good. The vet said she is a very healthy happy girl she just needs to eat. Her new family needs to work on the weight gain issue slowly. NOLA really is cuteness overload and there will be more information next week. If you are looking for the most perfect black and tan tiny female pup she’s the girl for you. Get those applications in!

NOLA will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. She may be placed with a small, mini doxie boy that is respectful and kind.

Like all Dachshunds, NOLA is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, NOLA needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give NOLA a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
