Leyah the Love Bug's Story...

Despite having 3 legs, Leyah is anything but special needs. Special, for sure!

There is a $40 adoption/rehoming fee. All supplies will be included.

Leyha is one of those cats that leaves tiny paw prints on the hearts of everyone she meets. She is just 6 years old, very healthy, up to date on her shots, and spayed. She is very well behaved, and always uses her litter box.

When Leyah looks up at you with her amazing sea-green eyes, you can’t help but want to pick her up and cuddle her. She has the most delightful purr, and a cute, melodic mew that she uses when she wants to talk to you.

Despite having lost one of her front legs (sshhhh… don’t tell her – she hasn’t noticed!), Leyah gets around as well as any of her 4 legged compatriots. She lost the leg when she fell from a window more than 5 years ago – before she came to live with her owner in Bronx NY.

She is a happy, well adjusted kitty who loves people. She enjoys meeting guests, and can be expected to roll over on her back, exposing her cute white tummy for rubs from anyone willing.
Leyah’s owner is devastated to have to find her a new home. She loves her so much, and the two have been together more than 5 years. Unfortunately, as things sometimes happen, she has met her special someone, and he is very allergic to cats. They have tried many things to make it work, but the allergy symptoms are getting worse, making life very difficult.

They are hoping to find a home where Leyah will be cherished as much as she is now. She is such a sweet and enchanting little feline. She adds so much love, joy, laughter and companionship to her home.

Leyah is very friendly, but like almost every other cat in the world, small children are not a good choice for her. She would be fine in a home with a single cat lover, a couple, or a family with kids older than 6 who love and respect animals.

Please offer this adorable little girl the home she needs and deserves. All supplies will be included.
If you would like to consider offering Leyah a loving, forever home, please fill out our Request To Meet A Pet form here:

Once received, we will contact you to discuss your request and set up a mutually convenient time to meet Leyah and their owner in their home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Leyah the Love Bug, a New York Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in New York, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
